The X Games are set to arrive in Skate’s digital “San Vansterdam” starting Tuesday, July 21, with a new multiplayer collaboration that brings fresh gameplay activities, themed challenges, and location updates to the early access/soft launch skateboarding experience.

Key takeaways

  • The X Games crossover begins on Tuesday, July 21, inside Skate’s San Vansterdam setting.
  • Indoor parks in the in-arena area are being rebuilt to mirror X Games parks from New Orleans.
  • The update adds new Spot Battles with turn-based, points-driven competition.
  • Co-op Challenge Party capacity expands permanently from 4 players up to 8 players.
  • The takeover runs through the end of Season 4, from July 21 to August 25.

X Games parks and themed challenges

As part of the collaboration, the indoor skate parks inside the arena will be replaced with new areas modeled after the X Games parks from New Orleans. That includes a fresh street park layout, a large vert ramp, and a competition bowl built for runs and tricks.

Players will also receive a set of X Games-themed challenge content. These tasks are designed around the sport’s history and highlight athletes from the scene. Beyond that, the update introduces additional objectives drawing inspiration from skate culture in cities such as Tokyo and Los Angeles.

Alongside the gameplay changes, there will be X Games cosmetics available to earn and purchase, giving players more themed gear to show off while they skate through the event zones.

New multiplayer features and event window

Beyond the sports event crossover itself, the same update adds several multiplayer-focused features. One of the headline additions is Spot Battles, which introduces turn-based scoring competition where players can contend for points across match rounds.

The patch also brings friend codes, making it easier to connect with others for sessions and co-op plans. In addition, the co-op Challenge Party size is being increased permanently, raising the maximum number of participants from four players to eight.

This “takeover” is scheduled to run during the final stretch of the ongoing Season 4. It starts on July 21 and continues until August 25.
