In The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Moldora mini-bosses roam across Hyrule and, while they aren’t strictly required to complete the game, players who want access to Kilton’s medal targets will need to take them all down. Defeating each Moldora also grants useful gear and monster materials for trading.

Moldora locations in Hyrule

There are 5 Moldora in total spread throughout Hyrule. Players can use an image reference for the location of each one, and they’re also reminded that an interactive map tool is available for quickly checking a specific spot when you’re hunting a particular mini-boss.

How to defeat a Moldora

A reliable opening involves using a remote bomb. Place the bomb on the sand near the Moldora; once it detects the vibrations, it moves quickly toward the device. When the Moldora positions itself directly under the bomb, detonate it to trigger an explosion that launches it out of the sand and leaves it stunned for several seconds.

With the Moldora incapacitated, move in fast and use your strongest weapons to land hits. An alternative approach is to take advantage of the air current the Moldora creates: use your paraglider to rise into the airflow, then draw your bow. While airborne, use “bullet time” to fire at the Moldora during its vulnerable window.

What you get for beating Moldora

Defeating Moldora yields monster drops including Moldora fin (aleta de moldora) and Moldora viscera (víscera de moldora), along with treasure chests as additional rewards. These items can be used in exchanges tied to Kilton’s Monster Shop for progression toward his collection goals.
