Rebel Wolves has confirmed that its upcoming vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker, will not offer a 60 FPS (or higher) experience on current consoles. Players expecting the classic “Performance Mode” smoothness on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will need to adjust their expectations, because the studio says the game will cap at up to 40 frames per second depending on mode.

The developer, led by a former director from The Witcher 3, says the RPG will ship with two console graphics options: a Quality Mode and a Balance Mode. In neither of those settings will the game match the higher frame-rate target associated with Performance Mode. The studio specifically frames the console offerings around these two profiles rather than a third, higher-FPS option.

For PlayStation 5 Pro, Rebel Wolves also outlines how the frame targets will work. It states that one mode is designed to deliver 30 FPS, while the second targets 40 FPS. Both modes are paired with dynamic 4K output and what the studio describes as “improved visual quality” on PS5 Pro.

Rebel Wolves did not mention Xbox Series S performance details in the same way, leaving the exact console behavior on Microsoft’s hardware unclear from this confirmation. The message from the studio accompanying its console performance video suggests that the most complete “full experience” may be tied to PC, while the console versions are positioned around the 30-to-40 FPS targets tied to the selected graphics mode.

In the official gameplay footage shared by the studio, the company signals that performance is stable across the console versions it showcases. Even with the frame-rate caps, the video presentation emphasizes that the game remains smooth, including refined combat movement. The studio also highlights lighting and atmosphere, pointing to strong visual impact during nighttime scenes.

The Blood of Dawnwalker launches on September 3 for PC and consoles, and that date is now the next key milestone for players deciding whether the game can stand out even without 60 FPS on console.
