NVIDIA Announces DLSS Ray Reconstruction Upgrade and RTX AI Updates at Gamescom 2026
At Gamescom 2026 in Germany, NVIDIA used its latest keynote to lay out a roadmap for the coming months: new AI features for real-time rendering, deeper voice-driven interaction in games, and fresh hardware and cloud updates for RTX users. The headline items include a new DLSS upgrade for ray reconstruction, continued momentum for RTX Remix modding, and expanding support across NVIDIA App and GeForce NOW.
DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction launches with a new transformer pipeline
NVIDIA has officially released DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction, positioned as an evolution of its AI-based scaling and lighting technologies. The update uses a second-generation Transformer architecture and is already available through the NVIDIA App.
- It adds fine-grain control for temporal accumulation.
- An expanded AI denoiser is designed to speed up scene reconstruction.
- It brings improved super-resolution techniques aimed at better spatial awareness.
NVIDIA says the result is noticeably sharper reconstructions for Ray Tracing and Path Tracing, with more precise shadows and more faithful overall lighting versus DLSS 4. Alan Wake II is cited as already demonstrating the improvements, while additional support has been announced for upcoming releases: 007 First Light on September 15, and Control Resonant on September 24.
RTX Remix keeps expanding, bringing path tracing to more classics
Alongside DLSS, NVIDIA highlighted continued growth in the RTX Remix modding ecosystem. It now supports more than 240 games, and the company says the new DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction capabilities can help modders apply higher-quality path tracing lighting with both improved performance and visual accuracy.
- New RTX Remix tool integrations were announced, including InstaMAT2Remix for procedural asset generation.
- PCSX2 Remix is aimed at bringing path tracing to PlayStation 2 titles.
- Direct integration with Blender is included for 3D model handling.
NVIDIA also pointed to community-created remasters featuring advanced technologies such as RTX Volumetrics, Neural Radiance Cache, and RTX IO—including Painkiller RTX, Quake I RTX Remix Mod, and The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind RTX.
NVIDIA ACE targets voice conversation and AI companions
For interactive AI, NVIDIA focused on NVIDIA ACE (Avatar Cloud Engine). The company says it enables conversational voice interaction inside games, combining speech understanding and language generation to drive real-time behavior based on game state.
- ACE is described as using ASR (automatic speech recognition), SLM (reduced language models), and TTS (text-to-speech).
- NVIDIA says this supports dynamic responses tied to how the match is progressing.
NVIDIA cited Krafton as an example of ACE-style integration, referencing AI-controlled teammates in PUBG that use on-device models for voice input, natural language generation, and decision-making during gameplay.
The company also discussed Aniimo, planned for early 2027, describing it as a title where players can communicate naturally with creatures to coordinate actions and teach new abilities through fluid conversation powered by RTX GPUs.
NVIDIA App updates, RTX Spark laptops, and expanded GeForce NOW support
NVIDIA’s announcements also covered both software control and new laptop platforms, plus additional cloud-service compatibility.
NVIDIA App gets deeper control
- New technical customization options, including the ability to force DLSS 4.5 profiles via application overrides.
- Granular management for Resizable BAR.
- Per-app adjustments for Frame Generation.
- Settings for monitors with G-SYNC Pulsar.
RTX Spark: ultralight creator/AI laptops
NVIDIA introduced RTX Spark, a platform aimed at ultralight laptops with thickness up to 14 mm, targeted at creators and AI agents.
- These systems are positioned as capable of running AI agents with models up to 1.2 billion parameters.
- NVIDIA claims gaming performance above 100 FPS at 1440p with Ray Tracing and DLSS.
- It cited support from major publishers including Capcom, CD Projekt Red, EA, Konami, Xbox, and Ubisoft.
- EA’s Javelin Anticheat is mentioned as integrated into RTX Spark.
NVIDIA also announced the Control Resonant GeForce RTX Bundle for RTX 5070 and above.
GeForce NOW adds DLSS 4.5 and more accessibility
Finally, NVIDIA said GeForce NOW is expanding its library with DLSS 4.5 support on hundreds of titles, allowing users to adjust super-resolution and frame generation parameters directly while streaming. The service is also expected to include popular upcoming releases such as Gears of War: E-Day, Control Resonant, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Metro 2039, and The Blood of Dawnwalker.
- Official support for the Firefox browser.
- Account linking and single sign-on with GOG.com.
- Support for the Steam ecosystem, including Steam Machines and controllers.
- Expanded integration with Amazon for direct subscription purchasing.
- Streaming support on Fire TV Stick 4K.
