Palworld 1.0 Best Watering Pals: Amione, Penking, Jellroy & Jelliett
Water isn’t just a convenience in Palworld—it’s a production bottleneck. If you want faster orchards and quicker output from water-powered buildings, the right “Watering” Pal can make a noticeable difference, from early base boosts to endgame maximum work speed.
Best Watering Pals in Palworld 1.0: who to look for
- Amione
- Penking
- Jellroy and Jelliette
- Ghangler
- Shaolong
- Jormuntide
- Neptilius
Early, midgame, and endgame Watering picks
Amione (early setup that boosts other Watering Pals)
Amione can be found around the Ravine Entrance waypoint, west of the starting zone. It has Watering 1, but its base value matters because it increases the Watering level of other relevant Pals in your base by +1. The practical result is that any other Watering Pal you have benefits from keeping an Amione in your base, helping you reach higher Watering tiers sooner—specifically enabling Watering 3 for Penking earlier than you otherwise would.
Penking (best early Watering Pal, via an Alpha dungeon)
Penking is recommended as soon as possible. An Alpha Penking is housed in its own dungeon north of Fortress Ruins, close to where you find the Alpha Chillet. Penking can reach Watering 3 when an Amione is present in your base. Alongside Watering, Penking can also perform Handiwork and Cooling tasks.
Jellroy & Jelliette (midgame speed gains through Partner Skills)
Jellroy and Jelliette both start with Watering 2, but their Partner Skill interaction is the reason they’re worth investing in. When both are in the same base, they increase each other’s watering speed by at least 50%, which helps solve midgame water throughput issues. Jellroy is found on Phantom Isle, northwest of Mount Obsidian. Jelliette can be found on the northern beach of Feybreak Island, and also inside dungeons on Windswept Island.
Ghangler (faster default Watering for more advanced setups)
If you need a midgame Watering Pal capable of handling more advanced water-powered work, get a Ghangler from Phantom Isle, the same island where Jellroy can be found. Ghangler starts at Watering 5 by default, giving it a faster baseline than most Pals at this stage.
Shaolong (lategame “starts high” Watering, scaling toward max)
Shaolong is an endgame Pal obtainable in the World Tree region. It’s the only Water Pal that starts with Watering 8, and with enough condensation it can eventually reach Watering 10. While Shaolong doesn’t add extra Watering-specific advantages beyond its high starting point, starting at Watering 8 reduces how much you need to invest before it reaches maximum Work Suitability level. Many players consider Shaolong one of the three best Watering Pals in the game.
Jormuntide and Neptilius (high starting Watering, harder to find non-Alpha)
Jormuntide starts at Watering 7. It can be obtained on Palpagos Island by beating and capturing a level 55 field boss located south of the Scars of War on Windswept Island. A 3-star condensed Jormuntide can reach Watering 10 without using a skill book, and it can reach that even sooner with an Amione in your base. Non-Alpha Jormuntides are described as difficult to come by, making 3-star progression slower.
Neptilius is described as similar to Jormuntide: both start at Watering 7, can reach Watering 10 at 3-star rank, and non-Alpha versions are also hard to find. These Pals are framed as better for combat and exploration, though they can still water effectively and are also useful for defending against raids.
What to watch next: building a Watering “stack” in your base
The key strategy across the best Watering options is stacking base value and synergy: use Amione to raise the Watering level of other Water Pals, pair Jellroy with Jelliette for the Partner Skill boost, and then transition into higher starting Watering tiers like Ghangler, Shaolong, and the harder-to-obtain Water specialists (Jormuntide/Neptilius). If you’re planning route and condensation priorities, the biggest decision is whether you want early throughput (Penking + Amione) or endgame scaling speed (Shaolong and 3-star high Watering targets).
