Dear Friends,
East West Seminar 2020: Back to our Roots! 1/7/2020: EXCITING UPDATE – GUEST SPEAKER CHRISTOPHER HOBBS, Ph.D., L.Ac.
MARCH 12, 2020 UPDATE:
After careful consideration concerning the Coronavirus, and taking into account the CDC recommendations, we have made the difficult choice to cancel this year’s seminar. We are very sad to not spend a week with each of you, and our faith in herbs and herbal healing remains unwavering, yet it is in the best interest of all participants to not hold this year’s retreat onsite.
But wait! We now offer an online seminar instead!
Held in webinar format, it will take place the same days: Saturday April 25 – Friday May 1, 2020. This means you can still attend many of the great classes you were looking forward to and from the comfort and safety of your own home. The online sessions will offer the opportunity to ask questions and speak with other attendees. While we won’t all physically be together, this virtual seminar promises to provide a great learning experience and ability to engage with one another in other ways.
Once the structure of the online seminar is in place, and classes and teachers confirmed WE WILL POST DETAILS HERE AND VIA OUR EMAIL LIST.
Our 40th Anniversary…
It is with great excitement and wonder that we announce 2020 as the 40th anniversary of the East West School of Planetary Herbology! It’s hard to believe we’ve been teaching students around the world that long but it’s true. Read more about our history here: History of East West School
UPDATES: We have a very special seminar year planned with several surprises. First of all, Michael will still offer a class to everyone (all tracks), sharing his pearls from over 45 years experience! Michael will teach a class on Sunday evening featuring Treating Cancer With Herbs: An Integrative Approach. By integrative, we mean the integration with the current medical oncology. In this class we will present the “Six Methods of Treating Cancer” based on a well established model that is still followed today by TCM cancer specialists in China. It will integrate Chinese, Ayurvedic and Western herbs in keeping with the ever evolving principles of cancer treatment available from many different sources.
We will present how the principles of differential diagnosis should be applied to form a strategy for treating various cancers with food, herbs and formulas resulting in the best possible outcome for cancer patients.
We will also suggest acupuncture, moxa and other physiotherapies that can be integrated into a comprehensive treatment protocol which may or may not be used based on licensing requirements.
In a word, Cancer is serious, but there are many effective natural, non-invasive methods that can be employed, that can result in the best possible outcomes.
While Lesley’s planned class on Energetics of Herbs will not be taught this year, we are excited to announce that Christopher Hobbs will join us on Sunday, April 26th to teach two amazing classes to ALL TRACKS:
Clinical Cannabis – Clearing the Smoke and Visionary Mushrooms – Mushroom Spirit Medicine:
One of our earliest faculty, graduate Susan Kramer, will offer her popular class on homeopathy. Graduate Roy Upton will not teach in 2020 afterall, but will be back in 2021 to share his incredible wisdom. As well, we have a new Friday morning class with Michael and Lesley.
We also welcome back great teachers from years past who took breaks to start families: Raqib Katz and Bill Schoenbart. Our new Ayurvedic teacher from last year, Manish Chandra, returns plus of course our fabulous faculty: Susan Kramer, Holly Hutton, Nancy Angelini, Jerry Angelini, Jill Barnattan, Jen Grady, and Darren Huckle.
There are even changes with our chef, Ben Zappin, who has been at our seminars since at least 2002. He recently moved his family to the Sierra’s, a good five hours away, so he’ll be cooking Friday to Monday while his favorite chef from the Quaker Center will fill in the rest of the week.
Come celebrate with us – be a part of the East West forty year legacy and its future to come!
