Xbox Store and Sign-In Outage Leaves Players Unable to Access Games
Xbox users reported problems signing in and accessing the Xbox Store early Sunday, with many players left unable to play their games while they waited for repairs. The outages were acknowledged late, sparking frustration from people who say it took too long for the issue to be officially recognized, and Xbox did not provide any estimate for how long players would be affected.
On the Xbox Support site, the problem was described as an inability to sign in and use the Xbox Store, with reports beginning at 4am BST. Xbox stated that it started working on fixes around noon, which meant that a large portion of the Sunday day could pass without players being able to access their accounts or services.
The Xbox disruption comes shortly after a separate, broader PlayStation Network outage that left players unable to play online and unable to access digital libraries. That earlier incident added to the wider debate around platform reliability and the industry’s push toward digital-only offerings, especially after PlayStation announced plans to move fully digital in 2028 by dropping physical game releases.
While the current Xbox issues appear to have affected fewer users than the prior PlayStation outage, the impact is still enough to force many people to postpone plans to play. For now, affected players are left to wait for service restoration so they can log back in and use the store normally, as no confirmed timeline for recovery has been shared.
