Move Interactive is preparing the release of its new MMORPG, Bearbrick Heroes, a game built around the look of Medicom’s iconic Bearbrick bear figurines. The studio has opened pre-registrations for a launch this year, putting players on notice that customization and loot will play a central role from day one.

Post-apocalyptic premise built around Bearbrick heroes

In Bearbrick Heroes, Earth is under threat from an extraterrestrial entity that has taken control of both machine code and the genetic code of living creatures. The result: machines, wildlife, and hybrid organisms—part organic, part mechanical—turn against humanity.

Human survivors are sheltered in a hidden location, where a scientist creates Bearbrick-themed heroes to serve as the “last line of defense” against the alien threat. Players take control of one of these Bearbrick characters, with the game’s designs echoing the figurines’ bear base form.

How the game ties its characters to the real figurines

All playable characters use the same bear appearance, but the game differentiates them through different texture variations.
On the figurine side, Medicom uses artist-decorated designs that are signed and then made unique via codes.
In the game, customization is handled through character creation options and in-game gear, where players manipulate their Bearbrick’s DNA during creation and also gain additional customization through equipment (and a code system is also referenced).

The MMORPG’s core gameplay follows familiar patterns: players choose one of four classes and then level up to improve attributes and unlock new skills.

Sentinel: melee combat with a hatchet.
Striker: ranged attacks using two blasters.
Arcanist: area-of-effect magic.
Restorer: heals allies and debuffs enemies.

Progression is tied to leveling, which increases stats such as strength, dexterity, intelligence, wisdom, and charisma, while also unlocking abilities via a skill tree.

Cosmetics, stats, and loot boxes

Beyond fighting hostile creatures, players are positioned to build their Bearbrick through customization. The game’s equipment includes cosmetic elements and also provides gameplay statistics. Equipment is earned gradually through progression, including encounters with in-world merchants, and through loot boxes.

Loot boxes contain rewards with different rarity levels.
Chances for each reward type are published by the developer.
Reported odds range from about 5% for the most common items down to roughly 0.02% for the rarest rewards.

With odds that low at the top end, the game’s loot-box system suggests players may need multiple attempts before landing the most desirable rewards.
