Rumor: Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald Could Hit Switch This Fall
Two more classic Pokémon Game Boy Advance titles may be getting fresh Nintendo Switch (and possibly Switch 2) releases this fall. New claims point to potential ports of Pokémon Ruby Edition, Pokémon Sapphire Edition, and Pokémon Emerald Edition scheduled for late September or October—though no official announcement has been made.
What’s being claimed for Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald
Rumors are now circulating that Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald could arrive on Nintendo’s hybrid platforms later this year. The timing being floated is the end of September or October, based on statements shared by the insider Nick Baker, who is known online as Shpeshal Nick. No concrete proof has been provided with the claim.
These possible releases would follow Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 availability for Pokémon FireRed Edition and Pokémon LeafGreen Edition, which launched on February 27, 2026. Since that release, the games have been reaching new audiences on Nintendo’s current hardware.
Why the ports are plausible
Interest in bringing the other classic entries forward has existed for a while. Earlier reports said dataminers found references to Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald in an emulator used for the Switch versions of FireRed and LeafGreen.
Despite the internal hints and the newer schedule speculation, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have not announced anything publicly regarding Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald.
Current status: no official word
As of now, the only confirmed Pokémon remaster-style releases mentioned are FireRed and LeafGreen on February 27, 2026. For Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, the fall window remains unconfirmed and entirely rumor-based.
