Dragon Ball Super Volume 19 Reveals Vegeta’s Mother in New Toyotaro Cover Art
Fans of Dragon Ball have finally gotten an official look at Vegeta’s mother: the new, previously unseen third cover for Dragon Ball Super volume 19—illustrated by Toyotaro—now features the Queen of the Saiyans in the mirrored reflection of Vegeta’s ancestors. The reveal is already set to spark fresh debate across the fandom, especially because the character has never been shown officially in the franchise’s decades-long history.
Third cover for Dragon Ball Super volume 19 adds the Queen of the Saiyans
A third cover has been unveiled for Dragon Ball Super tome 19. The new artwork is an original illustration created specifically by Toyotaro, and it expands on the same cover concept used on prior versions of the volume: a family lineup paired with a reflection that highlights ancestors.
Earlier editions of volume 19 included cover art focused on Goku’s family and another alternative cover featuring Gohan’s family. This latest version shifts the spotlight to Vegeta’s family—and introduces a major first.
Vegeta’s reflection includes Tarble and the first official appearance of Vegeta’s mother
In the mirrored portion of the cover, viewers don’t just see Vegeta’s younger brother, Tarble. The cover also presents Vegeta’s mother, identified as the Queen of the Saiyans—marking the first official depiction of her in Dragon Ball content across more than 40 years.
The reveal also stands out because Tarble has been absent from the main series for a long stretch, last appearing in a special released in 2008 titled Son Goku and His Friends Return.
What the official cover could mean for the series
With the character now officially shown on a volume cover for Dragon Ball Super, many fans are immediately asking whether this is teasing a larger story development. The new artwork raises the question of whether Vegeta’s mother will eventually appear in the series itself—and when her face might be shown on-screen.
