The title launched on March 5 as an exclusive for Nintendo Switch 2. In just four days, it reached 2 million copies sold, signaling immediate momentum for one of the system’s standout releases.

With new figures now in hand, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company say Pokémon Pokopia has sold more than five million units worldwide. The company’s breakdown includes both physical and digital sales across regions—starting from Japan and continuing through markets such as the United States, Europe, and other territories.

There’s also a clear caveat in how these numbers are counted: the reported totals do not include accumulated sales from the Expansion Pass. That pass bundles additional content, including the first DLC, Coral Reef Bay, plus two other expansions that have not been revealed yet.

Coral Reef Bay is the first paid expansion for the Switch 2 game. It adds a new underwater neighborhood, new Pokémon, and other features, accessible through the Expansion Pass priced at €34.99.

Alongside the DLC’s arrival, Nintendo also released a free update for the base game. This update adds features including Swimming and the ability to build underwater, expanding what players can do without purchasing the pass.

Finally, Nintendo’s internal console engagement figure suggests the game is reaching a broad audience: the system says 20% of Switch 2 users have purchased Pokémon Pokopia.
