FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki has tried to ease fears about how punishing PvP could be in The Duskbloods, stressing that you don’t need to be a top-tier PvP player to succeed. With the game set to arrive on Nintendo Switch 2 sometime in 2026, Miyazaki says the experience is being shaped so players who dislike intense combat against other humans can still make it through.

Miyazaki addresses PvP anxiety in The Duskbloods

  1. Miyazaki said he personally isn’t “very good” at high-intensity action games, specifically mentioning PvP as a challenge for him.
  2. He framed the game’s tension as something different from fighting enemies, noting that battling other opponents—referred to as “Bloodsworn”—is a separate problem from dealing with monsters.
  3. He argued that winning doesn’t require being great at PvP, saying “you don’t have to be great to win,” and that he’s not aiming to position PvP skill as the only path to success.
  4. Miyazaki added that the final round involves fighting against two other players, but said that doesn’t automatically mean you must be exceptional in PvP to come out on top.
  5. To support that idea, he pointed to the role of Kin, described as machine-controlled companions, which can take on more of the burden during these encounters.
  6. He also said character customization will let players further strengthen their builds, enabling a playstyle where the Kin do more of the fighting while the player stays slightly in the background.
  7. Finally, Miyazaki said the team is working to adapt the game to this style as much as possible “for now,” including a customization section for players who don’t want to be immersed in constant intense PvP.

What players can expect from the PvP approach

Miyazaki’s core message is that The Duskbloods will offer different ways to play, including options for those who would rather not be locked into nonstop, PvP-heavy encounters. He says the game will still allow players to reach the end while giving them a more controlled role—leaning on Kin companions and customization rather than relying solely on raw PvP performance.
