Xiaomi Redmi Note 17 Pro Max: 9,210mAh Battery Debut

Xiaomi is refreshing its Redmi Note line under the Xiaomi umbrella, putting a heavy emphasis on tougher durability credentials and very large batteries. The new Redmi Note 17 Pro Max leads with a 9,210 mAh cell, while the cheaper models start at at least 7,700 mAh. The series is already available, with the top configuration priced at €600.

Redmi Note 17 series: models and what the names mean

Retailers reportedly had the devices listed ahead of the official reveal, which came later in the day. In total, the Redmi Note 17 family includes four models:

What “durable” means in Xiaomi’s certifications and tests

Xiaomi markets the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max and Redmi Note 17 Pro with a “TÜV Süd 5-Star Titan Quality” certification, which is intended to cover drop safety, water resistance, and battery longevity. The company also specifies the following targets:

Drop tests on granite from a height of 3 meters
Protection against splashing water, rain, or sweat using IP66 and IP68 ratings
After 1,000 charging cycles, the battery should still provide at least 80% of its performance

The Redmi Note 17 5G and Redmi Note 17 use an IP65 certification.

Battery size and charging: what you get by tier

Battery capacity is a central part of the pitch. Xiaomi claims the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max uses the largest battery it has placed in a Xiaomi smartphone sold in Europe so far, at 9,210 mAh.

Regardless of price tier, Xiaomi is using Qualcomm Snapdragon processors throughout the Redmi Note 17 range. The listed options are:

Camera upgrades track with price

Camera hardware differs by tier. The Redmi Note 17 Pro Max and Redmi Note 17 Pro are the only models with two rear cameras. All models use a 50-megapixel main sensor, but Xiaomi specifies different starting aperture values. The two cheaper models are also stated to lack optical image stabilization.

Software support and update timeline

All four phones ship with Android 16 and are promised “up to” six years of security updates. Xiaomi did not provide details on which Android version milestones are planned.
