Roblox Corp is rolling out a new mobile tool called Build that aims to turn a simple text prompt into a playable Roblox experience, including both game assets and ways to iterate directly from a phone. The company says it uses AI built from a mix of open-source and Roblox-specific models, and it’s also promising additional AI features for Roblox Studio.

What Roblox Build does

Build is designed for creators who want to start with an idea rather than a full development workflow. In the app, users enter a text prompt and the AI generates a game and related assets. Roblox Corp specifically mentions that the tool can produce things like 3-D models and objects.

  • Text-to-game workflow: prompts are used to generate a game concept plus assets
  • Asset generation: includes 3-D models and objects
  • In-app iteration: creators can playtest and refine the results from the same app
  • Publishing: generated creations can be published to Roblox’s UGC platform from Build

AI features Roblox says are coming to Studio and Build

Alongside the Build release, Roblox Corp is also pitching new AI-driven capabilities tied to both Roblox Studio and the Build app.

  • Playtesting agent: intended to find bugs during playtesting
  • Analytics tool: described as providing data when following a prompt
  • Experiment agent: claimed to identify tests that can drive higher engagement, retention, and monetization

Release timing and eligibility

Roblox says Build will launch via a slow rollout, starting with New Zealand first. Initial availability begins on Tuesday, July 28, and is limited to users who have completed age verification.

  • First rollout: New Zealand
  • Start date: Tuesday, July 28
  • Age requirement: users 9+ who have passed age verification
  • Publishing access: creators can publish generated games from the Build app

Safety checks before games are playable

The company says games created through Build will undergo “robust safety checks” before becoming playable for older users. Roblox also sets expectations for who can play these experiences at launch.

  • Pre-play safety screening: described as “robust safety checks”
  • Playability target: users 16+
