Even though The Witcher 3 is more than a decade old, CD Projekt Red is continuing to support it with a new expansion called Songs of the Past. The studio has already announced the DLC, but the timing of the first major showcase has been clarified: it will be featured as part of Geoff Keighley’s Gamescom kickoff.

Keighley confirmed that Songs of the Past will appear in the Opening Night Live show, which is traditionally scheduled for late August as Gamescom begins. The implication is that Songs of the Past details will finally broaden in the weeks leading up to that presentation.

What CD Projekt Red has said so far

The studio has not provided many specifics beyond the expansion’s basic premise. CD Projekt Red says the DLC will “return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand new adventure.”

So far, the announcement has only pointed to PS5—there’s no PS4 version mentioned. CD Projekt Red has also suggested the expansion’s scale will be comparable to Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, indicating it could be a sizable content drop rather than a small add-on.
