Marvel Tokon Open Beta Dates (July 24

Arc System Works’ next Marvel fighting game, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, is giving players an early taste this weekend with an open beta. The test runs across multiple time windows from July 24 through July 26, and it’s available on PS5 and PC without registration.

The open beta goes live on July 24 and ends on July 26, with the exact start and end times listed per region. On July 24, it begins at 9 PM ET / 12 AM PT / 8 AM BST / 4 PM JST. On July 26, the beta closes at 8:59 PM ET / 11:59 PM PT / 7:59 AM BST (July 27) / 3:59 PM JST (July 27).

How to join on PS5 and PC

On PS5, players can download the open beta client directly from the PlayStation Store. On PC, the beta is available via Steam and the Epic Games Store. There’s no sign-up process, and pre-downloading is scheduled to begin two hours before the beta’s start time.

Even though you’ll need an internet connection for some online play, PS5 players do not need a PlayStation Plus subscription to access the open beta and its available modes.

What’s included in the beta

Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is Arc System Works’ Marvel-themed fighting game featuring playable heroes and supervillains from Marvel Comics. It’s built around 4v4 tag-fighting, with character-specific visual flair and comic-book-inspired action sequences that trigger when special moves land.

Playable characters

Instead of offering a limited handful like many betas, this one includes 15 playable characters out of the game’s full roster of 20. The beta lineup includes Blade, as well as Marvel mainstays like Spider-Man, Wolverine, and Doctor Doom.

Modes to play

For competitive and pick-up sessions, the beta includes Online Casual and Online Ranked matchmaking. There are also offline and social options, including a local Versus mode for couch co-op and a Practice mode to train against a PC dummy.

Between matches, the beta features an Open Lobby hub. Players can pick from 16 unique avatars, meet other users, chat, and start fights by joining at an arcade cabinet within the zone.

Tutorial and story preview

If you want to learn the game quickly, there’s an interactive tutorial mode called Start Up Battle. It’s designed to teach the basics of 4v4 combat, team-based skills, and advanced combos before you jump into online play.

The beta also includes story content through Episode Mode. Players can play the first three chapters of the “Amazing Guardians” storyline, which centers on Spider-Man building a team to push back against the Champion. Episode Mode uses illustrated comic-style panels that transition directly into gameplay.
