Halo Campaign Evolved Guide: Catch, Blind, Pinata Skulls and Consumed Terminal

Getting 100% completion in Halo Campaign Evolved isn’t just about finishing missions—it’s about hunting every collectible. In the penultimate campaign outing, “Keyes,” players can collect three specific Skulls (Catch, Blind, Pinata) and one Terminal (Consumed). The catch: the first Skull, Catch, is tied to a narrow set of conditions that affect both difficulty and how quickly you move through the opening section.

Catch Skull: the timed, skullless speedrun requirement

The Catch Skull is the most restrictive collectible in “Keyes.” It can only be earned on Heroic or Legendary difficulty, and it can’t be obtained if you use any Skulls at all. If you want to attempt it without committing to a full run, you can start a new game and load from the Keyes Rally Point Alpha checkpoint at any time.

Location-wise, Catch is found above the grav lift, but you must meet the timing requirement: complete the opening section of the Keyes mission under five minutes. The game also prevents the Skull from spawning if you bring other Skulls into the run.

How to complete the Catch Skull setup

One method described for making the window is to minimize combat early: push through by avoiding all enemies until you reach the grav lift. Once there, the strategy is to fight only Covenant forces—using grenades and your weapons—while staying inside the grav lift area and repeatedly interacting. After the Covenant targets are eliminated, the grav lift activates and you beam up; when you land in the ship, the Catch Skull is on the ground.

Blind Skull: hidden route through a vehicle-blocked hallway

After pushing forward to the shuttle bay, you’ll eventually encounter an objective update to “ascend to the upper deck.” For the Blind Skull, you’re meant to ignore that and look left for an open door.

From there, follow the corridor down the hall where two Hunters engage you. After clearing them, enter the room the Hunters came from (the right-side room) to find the Terminal—but for the Blind Skull specifically, earlier navigation is key: you can also find Blind by going into a room blocked by a Covenant vehicle. To reach it, drop into the large Flood-and-vehicle room you encounter, then enter the blocked area by crouching under the tank and walking the attached hallway until you reach the locked-door section that leads to the Skull.

Consumed Terminal and Pinata Skull: shuttle bay navigation and a melee trigger

The Consumed Terminal is obtained right as you enter the shuttle bay. Your objective will shift to ascending to the upper deck, but the route to the Terminal involves taking the left-side open door, clearing the two Hunters, and then entering the room on the right where they appeared from.

The Pinata Skull is tied to a later moment in the mission and includes story spoilers. When you locate Captain Keyes, a cutscene plays. After it finishes, turn back toward the Flood-infused Captain Keyes and begin melee striking him in the head until the Skull drops to the ground. The timing described is roughly four to five melee strikes, with the note that it may not register as a hit—players are told to keep repeating the head melee until the Skull appears.

Why these conditions matter for completion runs

This collectible setup changes how players plan their “Keyes” run. The Catch Skull’s constraints—Heroic/Legendary only, no Skulls used, and a sub-five-minute opening—can force a different approach than a normal playthrough. Meanwhile, Blind and Pinata require deliberate navigation and interaction patterns that don’t line up with the mission’s main objective flow.

  • Catch Skull demands a fast opening section (under five minutes) and can’t be earned if any Skulls are used, on Heroic or Legendary only.
  • Catch is obtained after reaching the grav lift and then beaming up; the Skull is found on the ground after landing in the ship.
  • Blind is reached through a vehicle-blocked room route, using crouch navigation under a Covenant tank and following a hallway to a locked door.
  • Consumed Terminal requires ignoring the immediate “ascend to the upper deck” objective and instead taking the left-side open door, then clearing two Hunters to reach the right-side room.
  • Pinata Skull drops after repeatedly head-melee striking the Flood-infused Captain Keyes post-cutscene, typically after four to five strikes.
