Candis Cantin Kiriajes is an herbalist living in California’s High Sierras. She is a senior graduate of the East West Herb Course and presently is a member of our distinguished faculty. She holds degrees from the American Institute of Vedic Studies and in Naturopathic medicine from the Native American Studies Institute. She is the author of the Pocket Guide to Ayurvedic Healing, co-author of The Spirit of Herbs, and over 200 hundred articles published in leading health magazines. She is current author of the East West Ayurvedic Course. Candis has traveled to Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia summers of 2003 and 2004 to teach Herbalism to the villagers in the Tien Chen Mountains. She is a founding professional member of the American Herbalists Guild and a much sought after teacher and lecturer at international herbal symposiums.
Candis is the founder of the Evergreen Herb Garden and the School of Integrative Herbology in Placerville. Currently, Candis is offering beginning and intermediate classes at Soil Born Farm in Rancho Cordova, California. She has over 30 years of practical experience as a counselor and teacher of holistic lifestyle principles. Candis is an avid gardener and has lived on her land for over 34 years, growing over 150 different herbs. She conducts herb walks in the High Sierra’s, along the American river in Sacramento and at Quail Hollow Ranch in the Santa Cruz area. She is the author of the Pocket Guide to Ayurvedic Healing and is the artist of The Herbal Tarot which she created with Michael Tierra. Candis also offers a home study program integrating Ayurveda medicine with herbs that western herbalists are familiar with as well as herbs from India and China. Candis’ approach to herbology is practical and, relevant to the modern times. She blends traditional herbal medicine with current medical insights.
