Arsenal Lose Appeal Against Max Dowman Red Card at Fleetwood

Arsenal’s appeal against Max Dowman’s red card at Fleetwood Town has been rejected, leaving Mikel Arteta frustrated but insistent that the teenager must learn quickly from the incident.

Arteta said Arsenal were “very disappointed” by the decision to dismiss the appeal after Dowman was sent off in the match at Fleetwood.

The Arsenal manager nevertheless made clear that elite football demands adaptation from young players, warning that there can be no expectation of special treatment.

“Otherwise we are in Disneyland,” Arteta said, underlining his belief that Dowman must adjust to the physical and competitive realities of senior football.

The dismissal now stands following the failed appeal, with Arsenal and Dowman set to deal with the consequences of the original red card.
