Bournemouth cruise past Sturm Graz to maintain perfect Europa League start
Bournemouth made it two Europa League wins from two on Thursday, beating Sturm Graz 3-0 in the club’s first home match in European competition.

- Evanilson opened the scoring with a forceful header after a slow start at the Vitality Stadium.

- The Cherries have a perfect record in the competition after also winning their opening Europa League match against Real Sociedad.
- Bill Foley travelled from the United States to attend the landmark European night.
- Head coach Rose made five changes following the 5-1 Premier League loss at Chelsea and praised the squad’s response, effort and clean sheet.
- Bournemouth remain without a league win under Rose, but the manager said the three-goal display can rebuild confidence.
Next step: Sunderland in the Premier League
Bournemouth now switch straight back to domestic action, with Sunderland due at the Vitality Stadium this weekend.
Rose said the European win must become a platform for improved league form. “It’s a big win, a nice win,” he said. “I’m really proud and happy. It’s a special evening. We should use the performance, the clean sheet and the three goals to gain confidence in our performances and results.”
He also backed the changes made to his side, saying his selection reflected the strength available across the group. Rose added that Sturm Graz, usually an aggressive pressing team, were given very little in the first half, with the shutout especially important to him.
