Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta on Switch 2

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to run an open beta on Nintendo Switch 2 this August, giving Switch players a full weekend to test multiplayer before the game launches later this year.

Nintendo Switch 2 open beta dates

The open beta will take place during the weekend of August 28. Players will be able to join through September 1.

This will be the second beta for Modern Warfare 4. An earlier beta is planned for the prior weekend, but it is limited to pre-orders on PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC—Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be eligible for that first test period.

What’s included in the beta

Activision says the Switch 2 beta will feature multiple multiplayer maps and modes. Players can choose from a variety of new Operators, including Operators tied to the Vault Edition for those who pre-order the Vault Edition.

The beta will also include weapon progression and a broad loadout setup. Players can unlock up to 19 different weapons during the test. The content range is designed to cover both smaller engagements and larger tactical battles, including modes that incorporate tanks.

Mode highlights include Search & Destroy, plus a new mode called Kill Block. The beta will also include the Training Mobility Course. Across the test, players will build loadouts using Gunny’s optional assistance, while leveling up and unlocking a wide selection of weapons and equipment such as Tacticals, Lethals, Field Upgrades, Perks, and Killstreaks.

Switch 2 reservations start Aug. 26

Reservations for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 begin August 26. Activision says more details about the Switch 2 version will be shared closer to the pre-order date.

Call of Duty: Next set for Aug. 21

Separately, Call of Duty: Next is scheduled for August 21. The event is described as including live gameplay, an in-depth briefing on the upcoming Multiplayer lineup for Modern Warfare 4, developer insights, and new reveals ahead of the beta.
