Future Games Show at Gamescom 2026 Shares Indie and Triple-A Trailers, Release Windows
The Future Games Show returned to Gamescom 2026 as one of the event’s recurring highlights, bringing a mix of indie and triple-A announcements alongside developer interviews. While the overall presentation didn’t aim to upend expectations, it delivered new trailers and updates across a wide range of genres—plus several release windows and platform confirmations for players to watch closely.
Here are the most notable game reveals and updates shown during the broadcast.
Worms: Galactic Tactics brings the series back with roguelike elements
Worms: Galactic Tactics made another appearance with an announcement trailer, following its earlier showing during the Opening Night Live pre-show. The game continues the classic Worms premise of chaotic combat, updated with roguelike mechanics intended to modernize the formula for newer audiences. The trailer focuses on the familiar idea of worms using outlandish weapons to eliminate each other, now paired with a more modern run-based structure.
Serious Sam: Shatterverse sets a late-summer 2026 launch date
Croteam also highlighted Serious Sam: Shatterverse with a new trailer as it approaches release. The game launches on August 31, 2026, and the footage showcases the core loop: fast movement and relentless shooting while trying not to get overwhelmed by enemies. Structured as a roguelike shooter for 1 to 5 players, it aims to refresh the Serious Sam formula with a contemporary take designed to broaden appeal.
Dioxide, from the team behind Forgive Me Father, was shown in a new trailer as a first-person shooter with cel-shaded visuals. The presentation includes multiple gameplay sequences but doesn’t reveal a release date. At the moment, the only announced platform is PC, though additional platforms may be added later as development progresses.
Spine returned with fresh gameplay footage and a confirmed launch window: summer 2027. Players take on the role of Redline, a rebellious street artist who becomes linked with Spine—a war prosthetic equipped with its own consciousness. Together, they push through a cyberpunk metropolis controlled by an autocratic AI regime, using “Gun Fu,” the game’s blend of close-quarters combat and gunplay.
Alkimya: House of Wisdom was revealed as a first-person survival horror set during the 1258 siege of Baghdad. The story follows Yusuf, an alchemist searching for a cure to save his dying daughter, who is hidden within a vast building that also functions as a major puzzle to decode and solve. The game is planned for PC and PS5, but no release date was provided during the show.
Arizona Sunshine also got a major update: the well-known VR title is being converted into a “flat” version for traditional play. The game is set to release during 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, and it retains its zombie-focused survival horror premise.
PixelJunk Monsters 3 was announced with an unusual trailer and paired with a closed playtest. The test is scheduled to run from September 4, and it will be available only on PC. The game itself is a tower defense title where players must protect an island from attackers arriving from all directions, either solo or with a friend.
Star Trek: Outposts Unknown was given a firm release date of October 20, 2026. The gameplay trailer centered on building scientific outposts, with players exploring the X’Lehari system to find a way to save a civilization teetering on extinction due to an unknown cosmic force.
The Future Games Show also confirmed that The Sinking City 2 will expand onto Nintendo Switch 2. The sequel was previously announced for PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, and the new trailer sets expectations for a classic survival horror experience in a Lovecraftian world.
Finally, Guns of Eschaton was presented as a roguelike first-person shooter. The game is credited to Viktor Antonov, who is associated with art direction for Dunwall from Dishonored and City 17 from Half-Life 2. Guns of Eschaton is scheduled to arrive by the end of 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
