The 33-year-old had sought a deal through to 2030, but Bayern held their position on an agreement running to 2029. His existing contract is due to expire at the end of the current season.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl had indicated that negotiations were progressing, saying discussions away from public view had been positive. The agreement is set to shut down interest from leading European sides, including Barcelona, who had been tracking Kane’s position.

Kane made clear in May that he was settled in Munich and saw no need to rush the process. He said there was no concern over the situation, with talks planned after the season and the World Cup still ahead, while stressing his enjoyment of life in Bavaria with his family.

Bayern stay follows extraordinary scoring run

The striker joined Bayern from Tottenham for £100 million in 2023 and has since collected the first major trophies of his career: two Bundesliga titles, the German Cup and the German Super Cup.

His output has remained relentless. Kane scored 61 goals across 51 appearances last season and has registered 50 goals already this calendar year. In September, he surpassed a Bundesliga record that had stood since 1977 by reaching 100 league goals in only 98 matches.

A long Bayern commitment would also make a return to chase Alan Shearer’s Premier League scoring record increasingly unlikely. Kane left England with 213 Premier League goals, 47 behind Shearer’s all-time mark.

England record within reach

Kane is also on the verge of becoming England’s outright appearance record-holder. He matched Peter Shilton’s total of 125 caps during the latest international break and can move clear when England play again next month.
