How to Expand Inventory Slots in Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Weapon, Shield, Bow)
Inventory management is one of the key bottlenecks in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, because the game’s weapon, shield, and bow slots fill up quickly. The good news is that you can expand those early sections—if you’re willing to grind a specific resource.
Where inventory upgrades come from
In Breath of the Wild, your inventory is split into multiple categories. The first three sections—weapons, shields, and bows—are the ones you can expand. However, there’s only one method to do it: farming Kolog Seeds.
How to farm Kolog Seeds
Kolog Seeds are obtained after completing a mini puzzle. These puzzles are found across the map, and once you finish one, a small spirit shaped like a leaf appears. This spirit is identified as the Forest Guardian and rewards you with a Kolog Seed.

Turning seeds into more slots with Obab
To actually increase your inventory capacity, you need to find the massive Kolog named Obab, who is the one that lets you spend Kolog Seeds on upgrades. Obab only shows up if you’ve activated the side quest “The Maracas of Obab”.
After you’ve started that mission, Obab can be found in the Kolog Forest, near the pedestal where the Master Sword is located. Speaking to him will allow you to upgrade your inventory, and you can choose whether to gain more space for weapons, shields, or bows.
What to focus on next
If you want to reduce the constant need to swap gear, prioritize expanding the category you use most during fights. Since every upgrade ultimately depends on Kolog Seeds, plan your routes around mini puzzles and make sure the side quest for Obab is active before you start spending.
