Liverpool Track Brentford Duo Michael Kayode and Kevin Schade
Liverpool have identified Brentford defender Michael Kayode as a leading target for 2027, while winger Kevin Schade is also being watched as the club weighs up a costly double approach.
No formal talks have yet been held over Kayode, but Liverpool’s interest is the strongest among the clubs tracking the 22-year-old Italy international. Arsenal and Tottenham are also monitoring the right-back.
Quick facts
- Liverpool are considering Brentford pair Michael Kayode and Kevin Schade.
- Kayode is viewed as a 2027 priority, with a valuation of £51m to £55m.
- Schade could be targeted in the next January window and may cost at least £60m.
- A combined deal could reach £115m.
- Kayode is contracted to Brentford until 2032.
Kayode arrived in west London from Fiorentina on loan in January 2025 before Brentford completed a £15m permanent transfer that summer. He has quickly become a dependable Premier League defender and has won two caps for Italy.
The full-back has impressed with his defensive work, ability to play on either flank and willingness to carry the ball forward. Brentford have also made regular use of his long throw-ins as an attacking route.
His performances have prompted comparisons with Aaron Wan-Bissaka, although Kayode is regarded as more influential in possession. Liverpool see room for further growth as he enters his prime years.
The interest comes amid concern over Liverpool’s right-back options. Jeremie Frimpong has not yet filled the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold, while Conor Bradley is facing a lengthy absence because of a knee injury.
Schade is the other Brentford player under consideration. The 24-year-old Germany international has scored three goals in his first five league appearances this season, strengthening his case for a move.
Brentford have started discussions over a new and improved deal for Schade. If those negotiations do not produce an agreement, Liverpool could move quickly when the January market opens.
What happens next: Liverpool are expected to keep assessing both players, with Schade potentially the earlier move. Any push for Kayode is more likely to develop next year, when the club decide whether to turn their long-term interest into a formal bid.
