We are very excited to bring you our 2023 seminar teacher lineup offered to ALL 3 Tracks:

Rosemary Gladstar

Rosemary will be teaching:

Plant Allies for Radiant Well Being:  The Amazing Adaptogens & Tonic Herbs

The two most well known groups of herbs that help us attain and maintain ‘radiant well being’ are the Adaptogens & Tonics. And for good reason.  These herbs help restore balance, boost energy, restore vitality, and help raise the body’s ability to deal with the stresses of modern life ~ and, as an added bonus, they generally have no harmful side effects.  They are also the prime herbs used for increasing life force and ones quality of life as one’s life during the ’Sageing’, or aging,  years.   In this class Rosemary will share information about her favorite Adaptogens and Tonic herbs and demonstrate some of her favorite recipes using tonics and adaptogens.  Powerpoint included. Todd Caldecott

Todd will be teaching:

Dravyaguṇa: Pharmacology in Āyurveda

This class introduces and reviews the theory and practice of dravyaguṇa in Āyurveda. This includes the subjects of rasa (taste), vipāka (post-digestive taste), vīrya (energy), karma (therapeutic action), and prabhāva (potency), as well as additional elements including bhaiṣajya kalpanā (pharmacy), saṃyoga auṣadha (combinations), anupāna (vehicle), and bhaiṣajya kāla (dosing strategy). Thomas Avery Garran

Thomas will be teaching:

An overview of the methods used to integrate non-Chinese herbs into the Chinese medical paradigm

We will look at how to employ historical records, botanical relationships, and even chemistry to develop a holistic picture of how a plant can be integrated into our practice using Chinese methods of diagnosis and treatment principles. With this knowledge in hand, Dr. Garran will guide students through the discovery of several plants and walk them through the process of understanding them using the lenses discussed in the beginning of the class. Students will complete the class with a sense of how to apply the process and gain practical knowledge of how to use specific plants in their own practice. BIO

Michael Tierra

Michael will be teaching:

The Five Stagnations
Most health conditions are due one of the five stagnations: Qi, blood, fluids cold, or food. Taking tonic herbs will only make such conditions worse, like adding cars to a traffic jam. Learn the signs, symptoms, and herbal treatments for effectively moving each of the five stagnations and preventing them as well.
