It’s been close to five years since Tales of Arise launched, marking the most recent entry that arrived as a mainline installment in the long-running Tales series. Modern game development takes longer than it used to, but with no clear announcement for the next Tales project on the horizon, fans are facing a longer-than-usual wait for the next chapter.

Bandai Namco has tried to keep the franchise in the spotlight while the next game is in production. The publisher has remastered multiple classic Tales titles from across its history, aiming to give both longtime players and newer audiences another way to experience earlier adventures. Still, remasters can’t fully replace the appeal of a brand-new Tales release for people who have already played the original versions.

Even Tales’ Producer Admits We’ve Been Waiting Too Long For A New Game

Bandai Namco appears to recognize that the gap since the last fresh Tales release has stretched on longer than players would like. In an interview with Famitsu (translated by Automaton), series producer Yusuke Tomizawa addressed the situation and acknowledged the frustration that comes with waiting.

He also confirmed that a dedicated team has been formed for the next project.

“The bar has risen when it comes to the scope of development and other factors, and to be honest, we’ve kept players waiting for quite long,” Tomizawa said. “While we haven’t been able to share concrete information yet, we are continuing to work on it while thinking of the series’ future.”

Tomizawa further emphasized that Bandai Namco understands how “absolutely essential” it is for new Tales games to meet fan expectations if the franchise is going to stay strong. For now, it’s a clear message that players will need to hold on a little longer, with no specifics yet available—though the producer’s comments suggest the wait is tied to higher development targets and a focus on what comes next for the series.
