Once Upon A Katamari Lands on Nintendo Switch 2 on Oct 8, 2026
Bandai Namco has announced that Once Upon A Katamari is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The upgraded release is scheduled for October 8, 2026, bringing the whimsical Katamari adventure to the next generation of Nintendo hardware.
On Switch 2, the game will run with enhanced visuals and a smoother frame rate. Mouse controls will also be supported. If you already own the original Nintendo Switch version, you’ll be able to download a free update to unlock the improved performance and the mouse control options on the same account.
Alongside the main release, a new paid DLC expansion called Rolling Live Highlights will launch on the same day—October 8. This content pack adds 10 new quests, 12 new songs, 6 new cousins, and 18 new accessories for players looking to expand their options and customize further.
For players jumping into the updated experience, here’s what Once Upon A Katamari is bringing to the table. The game reimagines the series in a fresh way, sending players on a journey through time with brand-new stages and introducing a competitive multiplayer mode designed to keep matches lively.
The game’s recognizable music makes a return with a new soundtrack, while customization options are expanded as well. Players will also gain playful tools to interact with the world—most notably, a new magnet feature that helps draw nearby items into your Katamari’s path.
Character choice is also a core part of the experience. You can play as The Prince or one of the game’s 68 cousins, and each cousin can be tailored with different color selections and facial characteristics. Once you’ve made your pick, you can bring that customized look into KatamariBall, a new four-player competitive mode where the goal is to roll the biggest Katamari possible and turn it into points before the timer runs out.
KatamariBall is set up for both online matches and offline play, including battles against CPU opponents—so you can compete whether you’re coordinating with others or sticking to solo practice.
