The previously announced closed network test for The Duskbloods has finally been given a firm window. The multiplayer stress event is scheduled to run between August 21 and August 24, 2026, giving players a limited chance to try the game while it’s still in development.

Dates, sign-up window, and required subscription

Interest in joining the test starts with applications opening on July 22 and closing on July 28. To take part, players will need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Test sessions are broken into several daily blocks during the August window:

  • Aug. 21, 2026 (Fri.) — 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. PDT
  • Aug. 21, 2026 (Fri.) — 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. PDT
  • Aug. 22, 2026 (Sat.) — 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PDT
  • Aug. 23, 2026 (Sun.) — 3:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. PDT
  • Aug. 23, 2026 (Sun.) — 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. PDT

Why this network test matters for players

The developers say the point of this closed network test is to evaluate performance before the full service begins. The focus is on running large-scale load checks to examine multiple technical elements of the game’s online features.

In practical terms, this kind of test is about making sure the matchmaking and online gameplay can hold up under real-world conditions—especially when many people are connected at the same time, using different network setups.

What the team will actually be measuring

Beyond generic “stress testing,” the stated objectives are more specific. The team plans to connect large groups of players simultaneously to confirm gameplay behavior while also applying pressure to the game server.

They’ll also look at how the experience behaves when many users are participating together—aiming to uncover issues that can show up only under particular conditions, including different network environments.

There’s also a balance-focused component: when actual players play together, developers can collect information on how well the game’s balancing holds up.

Participation is capped at up to eight players per multiplayer match during the development phase.

As with any pre-release test, the developers also warn that bugs may appear during play.
