Capcom 2026 Momentum: Onimusha Way of the Sword & RE Remakes

Capcom’s 2026 sales momentum is continuing well past the halfway point, driven by strong performance from its recent releases—while the publisher also looks ahead to upcoming releases including Onimusha: Way of the Sword and another Resident Evil remake.

Capcom’s 2026 sales so far

Capcom has had a standout period thanks to two major releases earlier this year, with quarterly and cumulative figures pointing to broad consumer demand across multiple franchises.

Resident Evil Requiem (released February 27, 2026) sold over one million copies in the latest quarter, bringing its total to over 8 million units since launch.
Even with that success, Requiem was described as one of the lower-selling entries in the franchise during the same time window, with Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes reportedly selling better.
That performance continues to push the broader franchise total to 213 million units sold across its history, reinforcing the series as Capcom’s top-selling franchise.
Pragmata (launched April 16, 2026) has sold over 2.5 million copies to date, and it was also reported as the best-seller across Capcom’s portfolio for the quarter.
Devil May Cry 5 moved nearly 1.3 million copies over the last three months, with the report tying that uptick to the release of the second season of Devil May Cry on Netflix and the game’s debut on Nintendo Switch 2.
Monster Hunter World continues to sell, with just under 800,000 units reported over the same three-month period.
In contrast, Monster Hunter Wilds sales figures were not reported for this quarter.

Capcom’s schedule is set to keep the pace going in the second half of the year, with multiple announced projects tied to major franchises.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to launch on September 4.
Resident Evil Veronica is also announced, described as a remake that will reimagine the original Dreamcast classic.
