Mistfall Hunter Watchtower Chest Key: Fast Loot Guide for the Watchtower Chest
Players hunting locked rewards in Mistfall Hunter can chase down the Watchtower Chest Key, then use it on a single chest in the watchtower overlooking a key road route between two notable locations. The chest sits in a contested area tied to a quest visit, and the loot is valuable enough that the best plan is to extract fast once it’s opened.
The Watchtower Chest Key can be found by searching around the Einherjar Ship Gray point of interest and the Supreme Hall area. Within the Supreme Hall, crucified effigies nailed to poles around the boss area offer a particularly strong chance to yield keys, making that area the first stop if your goal is to secure the Watchtower Key. Because key and item drops are affected by RNG, and many keys are Epic grade, players should expect to handle tougher encounters and deal with guarded container spawns. These “Guarded Loot” containers are identifiable by purple markers on top of the containers and the enemies positioned nearby them.
When keys drop, they commonly appear as “Unidentified Items.” If you’re still short on keys, you can also purchase Mysterious Loot Bags from Woodling Vendors located in the Hallowgrove or Brandgarde to improve your odds. Once you have the Watchtower Chest Key, the target is specific: the key opens a chest inside the watchtower that overlooks the road between Einherjar Ship Gray and the Gravekeeper’s Hut.
This same POI is also part of the Digging Deeper quest route, so it’s not an out-of-the-way stop—though the area is not quiet. The watchtower area is described as contested, with multiple spawn spots nearby, meaning other players may be roaming and PvP can break out while you search. There’s also a hard limitation after the chest is opened: once opened, it can’t be looted again by other players. If someone else got to it first, you’ll need to extract and attempt again on a later run.
An extraction point called the Returner Woodling Chime sits nearby, and the safest escape path is indicated on the map. After opening the chest, the contents are not just “good”—they’re a spread of unidentified items, with the chest described as containing between 3 and 5 unidentified items. The rarity range starts at Uncommon and can reach Legendary quality, so the advice is straightforward: don’t linger while carrying the loot. Extract immediately rather than roaming, since the game’s objective is to keep the rewards secured.
In addition to the Watchtower Key chest, the same general risk-reward theme applies to other key-gated loot. The source also notes that the Controlled Access Zone in Dam Battlegrounds contains a new Loot Rom that can be opened with a key, but for players focused on the Watchtower rewards, the priority remains clear: secure the key near the Supreme Hall effigies and Einherjar Ship Gray, open the watchtower chest along the road route, and get out via Returner Woodling Chime before the contested area finds you.
