Diablo 4 Patch 3.1.1 Lands July 14 to Speed Up Mythic Farming
Diablo 4 Season 14 is getting its first major tweak with patch 3.1.1 arriving on July 14—focused on making Mythic item hunting faster and cheaper, even as players continue to criticize the season’s broader Mythic system. Season 14 launched on June 30 and introduced “Mythic Uniques 3.0,” an overhaul intended to expand build options by letting more Unique items be upgraded into stronger Mythic versions.
Patch 3.1.1 targets Mythic upgrade odds—more fragments, lower cost
Blizzard’s patch 3.1.1 makes several changes to the Horadric Cube gamble loop used to upgrade Uniques into Mythics. The main materials for that process—Pandemonium Fragments plus the reputation currency Glints of Hope—are becoming easier to obtain, and the Cube recipe cost is reduced.
- Glints of Hope repeatable reputation reward now guarantees a Pandemonium Fragment.
- Corrupted Reaper drops up to two Pandemonium Fragments on higher Torment tiers (previously it dropped one on higher tiers).
- The Horadric Cube “Upgrade to Mythic” recipe cost is reduced from five Pandemonium Fragments to four.
In practice, this means players should be able to roll Mythics more frequently than before using the Cube, since both fragment availability increases and the crafting requirement decreases.
Why players are still unhappy: cube gains don’t fix the core Mythic chase
Even with these improvements, patch 3.1.1 does not address the biggest complaints about Season 14’s Mythic structure. Players can still equip only one crafted Mythic at a time, and Mythics obtained as random drops remain difficult to target and rarely land in usable form. The season’s redesign was meant to broaden Mythic options and reduce the dominance of older best-in-slot picks, but many players say the opposite has happened: there are more Mythic choices, yet fewer reliable ways to farm the specific ones they need.
Community concerns also extend to established Mythics from earlier seasons. Items such as Heir of Perdition, Harlequin Crest, and The Grandfather reportedly feel harder to find. When they do drop, some can come with partially randomized modifiers that may make them worse than what players remember from the past. One Diablo content creator, Rhykker, summed up the frustration with the idea that players are being asked to “work harder to get something crappier than we used to have.”
Some players are hoping Blizzard will later remove the single-crafted-Mythic restriction, allowing Mythics crafted via Resplendent Sparks to be equipped as well—something patch 3.1.1 does not change.

What’s next for Season 14
Patch 3.1.1 improves the material flow for Mythic upgrades and lowers the Cube cost, but it leaves the season’s broader Mythic accessibility problems largely intact. With July 14 now the next checkpoint, players will be watching whether Blizzard follows up with larger balance changes—especially around the restriction that limits how many crafted Mythics can be equipped at once.
