In Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Sacrifice Island is easy to overlook if you’re mostly pushing through quests—yet it’s home to a Mayan Stelae puzzle that rewards players with a valuable collectible. Even better, the island’s eerie atmosphere only ramps up at night during a storm. Here’s how to reach the puzzle, solve the alignment step, and put the resulting Mayan Stone to use in the larger Mayan Mysteries side quest.

How to find and solve the Sacrifice Island Mayan Stelae

To get to the Sacrifice Island Mayan Stelae puzzle, head west of Havana until you reach the edge of the map at (18, 548). The island is guarded by Spanish soldiers, so you can either sneak into position—especially toward the southern part of the island—or clear the area outright. The puzzle itself sits right next to the southern viewpoint on Sacrifice Island.

Once you arrive, climb to the top of the highest Mayan pillar or totem at the site to begin the stelae puzzle. The ground projection forms a triangle with circles placed along each edge. Your task is to line up the three circles with the three stones already on the ground.

Follow the puzzle’s alignment objectives: rotate the projected lines until the triangle faces away from Edward, adjust the triangle so it sits centered over the three ground stones, and then reduce the size of the lines until each stone lines up cleanly with the three circles.

When all three circles match the stones, the center area of the projected triangle becomes diggable. Dig there to obtain the Mayan Stone for completing the Sacrifice Island puzzle.

What the Mayan Stone is for in Black Flag Resynced

The Mayan Stone from Sacrifice Island is one of 16 stones needed to complete the Mayan Mysteries side quest in AC Black Flag Resynced. After collecting all 16, you’ll need to travel to the Mayan Temple in Tulum.

You’ll arrive in Tulum automatically during the “Nothing is True…” main quest in Sequence 4. From there, head to the Mayan Temple in the northwestern corner of Tulum Island, enter the structure, and make your way to the back wall. There, you’ll find a large stone surface with indentations where you can insert all 16 Mayan Stones.

Once the stones are placed, the temple unlocks rewards including a Mayan outfit and a trinket that grants Edward immunity to projectile (bullet) damage.
