A new cozy monster-management game is in development, and you can already try it before its release. Indie studio Sile is building Monsterest, a cozy sim where you run a guesthouse for monsters and other unusual creatures—balancing their needs, crafting the space they live in, and gradually earning their trust.

A cozy guesthouse for monsters

In Monsterest, you take the role of the manager of a special inn. Instead of ordinary guests, your overnight visitors are monsters and other unique creatures. The core loop revolves around paying close attention to what each creature wants—ranging from preferred meals to the way their rooms are furnished.

To meet those needs, you’ll largely craft furniture and decorations yourself. After gathering enough wood in the forest, you use it to build and outfit your rooms to suit your guests.

Trust, friendships, and a guest-driven progression

As you successfully win over your monster patrons, the game’s goals expand beyond just keeping them satisfied. With rising guest happiness and satisfaction, your inn’s level increases, which unlocks new building plans for additional furniture and items. Higher satisfaction also helps bring brand-new monsters to your establishment.

The creatures you host don’t just stay in your rooms. Once you’ve earned their trust, they can join you in your activities—helping with fishing, going hunting together, and supporting you when it’s time to cut down trees.

Beyond the day-to-day cozy routine, the world also includes darker secrets, giving you reasons to explore beyond the inn’s immediate surroundings—especially if you want to uncover more of what’s out there.

Free Steam demo available, release date not announced

Sile has not yet announced a specific release date for Monsterest. The current expectation, based on the absence of an official timeline, is that you likely shouldn’t plan on seeing it before 2027.

In the meantime, a free demo is available on Steam. While it doesn’t include every feature, it’s intended to let you try the gameplay loop now and get a feel for whether the crafting, guest management, exploration, and monster companion dynamics click for you.

What to expect from the demo

  • Monsterest blends guest management, crafting, and exploration with monster companions whose trust you must earn.

  • The Steam demo is a pre-release way to test how engaging the gameplay feels.

  • No confirmed release date is currently available, and there’s little indication of a 2026 launch.
