Betclic Apogee Signs Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak

Betclic Apogee has completed a major transfer by signing Poland’s Roland “ultimate” Tomkowiak, bringing him back to the domestic scene after his stint with Team Liquid. The move finalizes Apogee’s current roster ahead of upcoming competition in Sweden, where the team will debut the new lineup at Stake Pulse Beat II.

From Team Liquid bench to a return to Poland

Apogee officially announced that Tomkowiak is joining the squad. He had previously been part of Team Liquid’s active roster, but on July 9 he was moved to the bench. His contract with the North American organization effectively ended after just over a month, with the relationship concluding on the point that he left Liquid as the team’s player following his start on July 12, 2024.

For Tomkowiak, the transfer also marks a return to the Polish competitive circuit after more than two years. Before Liquid, he played for Illuminar Gaming, and during his best stretch he reached the quarterfinals of the Perfect World Major in Shanghai. Across many first-tier events in that period, his runs frequently ended at the quarterfinal stage.

Why the signing matters for Apogee’s immediate plans

With Tomkowiak secured, Apogee has now completed its roster build and is preparing to compete using the full lineup. The next scheduled appearance is Stake Pulse Beat II, set for August 21–26 in Stockholm, Sweden. The event features sixteen teams competing for a shared prize pool of $60,000.

Apogee’s first tests with the new AWPer will come alongside other notable organizations and players. The lineup also includes matches from teams coached by Filip “NEO” Kubski from Astralis and Phantom Esports, and Oliwier “swiz” Janus from ASTRAL.
