Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Switch 2 Edition: Momo & Outfits

Nintendo has detailed new content and performance improvements coming to Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, including fresh looks for Pyra and Mythra, a new Blade named Momo with a dedicated quest, and a new way to play battles by directly controlling your Blades. The enhanced version is set to launch digitally on July 30, 2026, with a physical release following on October 1.

Announcement: new outfits, a direct-control battle mode, and a new Blade

Pyra and Mythra are receiving new outfits that were first teased in last month’s Nintendo Direct. Alongside those cosmetic additions, the edition introduces Merc Assault, a mode that lets you directly control Blades during missions.

In Merc Assault, you can select up to six Blades to send out. While fighting, you can switch which Blade you control at any time, giving you more direct control over which party member you pilot mid-battle.

The new Pyra and Mythra outfits are earned as rewards from Merc Assault. Once obtained, you can freely swap between the new designs and the original outfits at any time.

In addition, Momo has been revealed as a brand-new Blade. Momo can change between two forms, altering her appearance and elemental affinity between light and dark. She will also arrive with a new quest.

The edition also brings performance improvements and visual upgrades. Docked play supports 4K resolution at 60 frames per second, while handheld mode targets 1080p at 60 frames per second. Cutscenes are also updated for improved frame rate, resolution, and detail.

Players will additionally be able to unlock new equipment design options for Pyra and Mythra, described as exclusive to this Switch 2 edition—expanding how you can customize their look beyond the base outfits.
