Laurence Layne has a rich and varied history in wholistic healing and alternative medicine. As a young teenager he read The Sleeping Prophet, a biography of Edgar Cayce, the first book of its kind to introduce wholistic healing to a mass audience in North America. He first became aquainted with herbs while living in the Appalachian mountains in East Tennessee in the 1970s, at the time learning natural living and back-to-the-earth skills. He began working with energy healing in 1978, after receiving a life changing healing treatment. Thereafter he began exploring spirituality, energy healing, vegetarianism, yoga, and wholistic healing in a deep way, eventually living in spiritual community for most of the 1980s.

In 1981 he attended a month long class at the Servers Training School, possibly the oldest energy healing school in the West (est. 1952). He later attended a number of wholistic and transformational healing classes in the 1980s. He is a 1989 graduate of the Atlanta School of Massage, Atlanta, Georgia, and is the holder of a number of advanced manual therapy and bodywork certifications. He began to work more specifically with herbal product lines in the late 1980s and became an East West Herb Course student in 1992.

He has lived in a macrobiotic household, and devoted several years in the early 1990s to practicing the macrobiotic diet, including cooking for sick people. He has been a full time natural health professional since 1990. In 1994, he founded a multidisciplinary wholistic healing center, Healing Waters Clinic, in St. Augustine, Florida, where he lives and practices. Over the years he has taught classes on reflexology, shiatsu, macrobiotics, chi kung, herbs, and Attunement, a method of spiritual energy healing. He has written numerous articles on herbs for local publications and has written three books on energy healing.

Healing Waters Clinic is a multidisciplinary wholistic health center in St. Augustine, Florida, founded in 1994. We specialize in manual therapy, advanced bodywork, nutrition, herbal therapies, energy healing, and wholistic counseling. Laurence Layne, LMT, CH (Certified East West Herbalist), and Jackie Shank, MS, RD (East West student) are the primary practitioners.

Healing Waters is an East West herbal pharmacy and sells bulk herbs from around the world including North America, Europe, China, and India. We carry select lines of herbal products such as Planetary Formulas, Dr. Christopher’ s Original Formulas, Chinese patent remedies, Edgar Cayce remedies, Ayurvedic products, and a large selection of HerbPharm tinctures. We also make a number of herbal products ourselves including salves, tinctures, and syrups. Part of our work is to function as a community herbal pharmacy where the public can walk in and receive good herbal information. Our helpful staff utilizes the East West philosophy in making recommendations. We also make special products and individualized formulas for the public and fulfill prescriptions and recommendations by acupuncturists, natural vets, medical doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists, and other natural health practitioners. We will gladly make and ship bulk Chinese herbal formulas to East West students and macrobiotic students. East West students receive a 10% discount on bulk herb formulas ordered from us.
