Amad is one appearance away from 100 for Manchester United and can reach the landmark at Leeds United on Sunday.

What we know

  • The 24-year-old joined United from Atalanta in January 2021 and made his debut against Real Sociedad under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the following month.
  • After spending two seasons on loan, the No.16 has established himself in the senior squad. His dramatic FA Cup goal against Liverpool in March 2024 was followed by 15 more United goals.
  • Amad has set himself targets of increasing both goals and assists. He is studying Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo to improve his final-third impact.
  • Fernandes has become a key adviser for Amad, with the pair able to speak Italian. Amad also credited former United defender Eric Bailly for helping him after his arrival.
  • If he plays at Elland Road, Amad will be the fourth African footballer to make 100 United appearances, after Bailly, Quinton Fortune and Andre Onana.
  • He has played only twice this season following a pre-season ankle problem. Amad started Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur, playing 59 minutes, then came on for Marcus Rashford in the 2-0 defeat at Atletico Madrid after Leny Yoro’s red card left United with 10 men.

Next step: Leeds and a chance at 100

United travel to Yorkshire needing a result, while Amad looks to rebuild full match fitness after his injury-delayed start.

The winger wants his United career to leave a lasting impression. He said he intends to give everything to the club so supporters remember him for his contribution rather than unfulfilled potential.
