Mikel Arteta confirmed that Konsa returned early from England duty, while Zubimendi and Hincapie suffered problems late in training. Arsenal will conduct further checks and scans before putting a timescale on any potential absences.

The tie also brings an emotional reunion for Gabriel Magalhaes. The Brazilian centre-back left Lille for Arsenal in 2020 after three years in France and said the occasion carries major personal significance.

Gabriel said he retains strong affection for Lille and is looking forward to seeing their supporters again, even as he prepares to face them in an Arsenal shirt.

Olivier Giroud will be back at his former home as Lille’s central attacking threat under Davide Ancelotti. The French striker is expected to lead a front line featuring Dilane Bakwa and Maurits Kjaergaard.

Arteta played alongside Giroud at Arsenal and praised the 39-year-old as an important dressing-room figure, highlighting both his distinctive style as a striker and the career he has built.

Arsenal go into the London match after a 1-0 away win over Napoli in their opening European league-phase fixture. A further victory would extend their run to 14 straight wins in Champions League group-stage and league-phase matches.
