Arsenal are weighing up a January move for Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi as Mikel Arteta looks for more decisive finishing in his attack.

Quick facts

  • Tresoldi has scored nine goals in 12 matches in all competitions this season.
  • Club Brugge turned down a £30m Roma bid for the forward in August.
  • Arsenal signed Christos Tzolis from Brugge for £35m last summer.
  • AC Milan and Inter Milan are also tracking the Germany Under-21 international.

The Gunners have started the Premier League campaign strongly, but Kai Havertz has been used as Arteta’s central striker in each of the first seven league games. His versatility remains valuable, yet Arsenal still see the need for a specialist No 9.

Viktor Gyokeres’ difficult opening has sharpened that concern. The £63.5m summer 2025 signing from Sporting CP is still waiting for his first goal after eight appearances in all competitions, including starts in Arsenal’s two Champions League fixtures.

Tresoldi has emerged as a leading alternative after an exceptional start in Belgium. He scored in Brugge’s 3-2 loss to Aston Villa, then hit a hat-trick against Inter at San Siro as Brugge claimed a 4-3 win.

The 21-year-old had already built a strong reputation last term, when he finished as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals. Tzolis, now at Arsenal, was two goals behind him in that scoring race.

Arsenal could benefit from their recent business with Brugge following the £35m Tzolis transfer, although any deal for Tresoldi is expected to demand a sizeable fee after Roma’s £30m proposal was rejected.

Competition is growing. Both Milan clubs have shown interest, with AC Milan particularly keen on a player who supported the Rossoneri as a boy.

Arsenal’s next decision is whether Gyokeres can quickly turn his form around or whether the striker search becomes a January priority as the title race moves into its second half.
