In Knight’s view, Edward already has a wide set of tools and ways to take down opponents, so adding back feature-heavy move sets would have required extensive rework.

He also addressed concerns about the absence of particular fighting moves, arguing that restoring or redesigning complex animation-heavy systems wasn’t a top priority. Knight noted that the cost of rebuilding such mechanics “from the ground up” with modern characters, rigs, and animations would be substantial, and that the team instead focused on nailing the foundation of combat.

Knight described this as a deliberate choice, saying the team deprioritized the extra animation variety and the many weapon-specific kill sequences because they were not as urgent as getting combat right.

He compared reinserting other fighting options—like throwing weapons—to the idea that Edward already has “ten ways to kill somebody,” making additional reconstructions less compelling relative to the broader development workload.
