Gabriel Jesus set up Adeyemi for the fourth goal in the 65th minute, with the substitute exploiting the space left by a tiring Galatasaray back line. Flick had made the double change in the 59th minute, replacing Dani Olmo and Gordon with Jesus and Adeyemi, and it immediately gave Barcelona greater pace and movement in transition.
Galatasaray had looked capable of delivering a major result during the opening stages. Okan Buruk set his team up in a 4-2-3-1 which became a compact 4-4-2 without the ball, closing the central area in front of goal and restricting Barcelona’s route through Dani Olmo and Fermin Lopez.
Lucas Torreira and Mario Lemina screened the defence effectively, while Galatasaray allowed Pau Cubarsi and Eric Garcia possession before stepping up when Barcelona advanced through midfield or released Joao Cancelo. Davinson Sanchez led a defensive unit that caught Barcelona offside eight times.
The home side also had a direct outlet. Victor Osimhen contested long balls, allowing Rafael Leao and Aleksei Batrakov to attack the loose ball beyond him. That route produced the opener in the 28th minute, when Leao created the chance for Batrakov.
Barcelona were level before the interval, however, as Cancelo struck in the 43rd minute. Flick’s side had already dominated possession but initially lacked penetration, with their high line and patient circulation unable to consistently find a route behind Galatasaray’s narrow block.
Rodri operated as Barcelona’s deepest midfielder and regularly dropped between the centre-backs, enabling Cancelo and Gerard Martin to push forward. Pedri controlled the attacking rhythm, while Lamine Yamal’s wide position repeatedly isolated Eren Elmali on Barcelona’s right.
The decisive change came after the break. Barcelona moved the ball forward more quickly, won more second balls in midfield and began to overwhelm the Torreira-Lemina partnership. Fermin put the visitors ahead in the 50th minute before Gordon extended the advantage three minutes later.
Flick also gave Olmo and Yamal greater freedom to drift into central areas, creating overloads that Galatasaray could no longer cover laterally. Yamal’s ability to draw defenders opened lanes for Fermin and Barcelona’s other runners.
Galatasaray made 25 clearances as the pressure mounted. Buruk sent on Gabriel Sara and Luc Ugochukwu in an attempt to restore midfield control, but Barcelona had seized the contest and Galatasaray no longer had the energy to attack the space behind the visitors’ high defensive line.
Barcelona’s recovery from 1-0 down was built on adaptation: the early low block and direct threat caused problems, but Flick’s changes in tempo, positioning and personnel turned a tight match into a comprehensive away win.
