Bastoni Returns as Italy Prepare for Nations League Clash with Turkey
Alessandro Bastoni is available again as Italy complete preparations for Tuesday’s UEFA Nations League trip to Turkey, with Roberto Mancini set to alter his starting side after the 2-1 defeat to Belgium.
The Inter defender missed the Rome loss through a one-match ban and returns for the 20:45 kick-off at Bursa’s Ataturk Spor Kompleksi. English referee Michael Oliver will take charge.

Mancini has called for calm after the Belgium setback, insisting Italy need time on the training ground before performances and results can shift the mood around the national team. He wants his players to carry the stronger second-half showing against Belgium into Bursa.
“There is too much concern around the team right now,” Mancini said. “We must remain composed, work and improve. Playing well and winning is what will change the situation.”
Changes are expected in midfield and defence, with the coach balancing the immediate need for a response against a packed schedule. Mancini believes exposing younger players to demanding away fixtures is essential to building a stronger side over time.
The contest also reunites Mancini with Turkey boss Vincenzo Montella. The pair combined for 37 goals for Sampdoria during the 1996-97 campaign under Sven-Goran Eriksson.
Mancini praised Montella’s work with Turkey and warned that the hosts have significant quality across their squad. A victory in Bursa would give Italy momentum before the October 2 trip to Paris.
