BlackMill Games Announces Gallipoli WW1 Shooter Launch on August 20, 2026
BlackMill Games has set a new launch plan for Gallipoli, the next entry in its long-running World War 1 shooter series. The game is scheduled to release on August 20, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, bringing its tactical, historically themed battlefield action to the Middle Eastern front and specifically the 1915 Battle of Gallipoli.
World War 1 series continues with 1915’s Battle of Gallipoli
Gallipoli is the fourth game in BlackMill Games’ World War 1 lineup, following Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo. Each title is built around its namesake historical battle, with period-appropriate weapons, uniforms, and equipment aimed at authenticity—while the core appeal remains the tactical feel of the shooter gameplay.
The upcoming release focuses on the Middle Eastern theater of World War 1, positioning Gallipoli as a direct depiction of the conflict’s 1915 battle rather than a broader war overview.
Release date trailer highlights improvements and support for crossplay
In a brand-new release date trailer, BlackMill Games confirmed the August 20, 2026 release across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The trailer also foregrounds changes framed around player feedback, including adjustments to weighty gun sounds, movement and gunplay, crossplay, strategic teamplay, and the introduction of new roles compared with previous games in the series.
Previously delayed after a technical problem
Gallipoli was originally planned for a May 21 launch, after being revealed roughly a month before that target date. However, a critical technical issue forced a delay, and the developer has now been able to commit to a new release schedule. BlackMill Games’ latest confirmation indicates the team believes it has cleared the earlier blocker that prevented release on the original timeline.
Why this WW1 follow-up matters for the FPS genre
World War 1 has historically been less represented in mainstream video games than World War 2, which has seen a broader variety of titles. Even major military shooter franchises have largely avoided the WW1 era, despite years of annual releases. Against that backdrop, BlackMill Games’ continued focus on World War 1 is positioned as filling a niche that other developers are not currently prioritizing.
Series approach: one battle per game
BlackMill Games’ strategy for the World War 1 series centers on covering a single battle per installment. The developer has not yet tackled some of the war’s best-known engagements, such as the Somme or the Battle of the Marne, and the narrower scope is described as enabling more concentrated historical detail. With Gallipoli set to arrive in August 2026, the next question for players is where the series will go after the Middle Eastern front installment.
