Carlos Augusto Scores and Assists as Inter Beat Bologna 3-1
Carlos Augusto came off the bench to score and assist inside 21 minutes as Inter beat Bologna 3-1 at the Stadio Dall’Ara, earning the official man-of-the-match award and giving Cristian Chivu another major option on the left.
Augusto changes the game immediately
The Brazilian wing-back entered in the 69th minute with Lucien Agoume and needed under a minute to put Inter 2-1 ahead. He then created Ange-Yoan Bonny’s late goal to secure a 3-1 win.
It was a decisive response from Inter after the interval, with Augusto’s impact helping the champions recover control and protect their push to retain the Scudetto.
- Inter faced Bologna at the Stadio Dall’Ara.
- Carlos Augusto and Lucien Agoume were introduced in the 69th minute.
- Augusto scored Inter’s second goal less than a minute after arriving.
- He later supplied Bonny for the third and final Inter goal.
Mentality the key in Inter response
Augusto said Inter’s second-half performance was driven by the squad’s determination as much as its tactical work.
“Tactics matter, but without heart and the will to win matches, they are not enough,” he said. “In the second half we showed that we want to remain at the top and defend the Scudetto on our shirts.”
The 26-year-old added that substitutes must be ready to deliver immediately, particularly with Inter facing an intense run of fixtures.
“When I come on, the coach asks me to apply what we have worked on during the week. I always put Inter’s goals ahead of my own,” Augusto said.
Chivu gains depth for October schedule
Augusto acknowledged the competition for places but insisted Inter’s strength depends on every player being prepared to influence a match.
“Everybody wants to play, but there are a lot of good players in this team and many games ahead,” he said. “We have to be ready to make a difference. We will be playing every three days.”
He also revealed that his summer had been difficult, saying he had worked hard in recent months to be ready to help Inter win.
- Augusto delivered one goal and one assist after entering in the 69th minute.
- His contribution turned Inter’s one-goal lead into a 3-1 victory.
- The performance strengthens Chivu’s options at left wing-back.
- Inter must now manage their domestic title defence alongside European commitments.
Next, Inter head into their upcoming fixture with renewed evidence that their rotated players can decide matches quickly when called upon.
