Barcelona fear Dani Olmo could be out for around a month after preliminary examinations pointed to a tear in his left adductor, with an MRI in Catalonia set to establish the full extent of the damage.

The Spain international pulled up during the opening stages of Barcelona’s defeat in Paris and was replaced by Fermin Lopez. He is expected to miss Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou, while a five-week absence would also rule him out of matches against Alaves, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal and Sabah.

Flick faces growing injury problem

Hansi Flick is already dealing with absences in defence and midfield, with Eric Garcia, Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde also unavailable. Olmo’s potential lay-off would remove one of Barcelona’s key creative midfielders during a demanding run of domestic and European fixtures.

Barcelona’s medical staff will assess whether the injury is a complete adductor rupture or a less serious strain after the player returns to Spain. The early signs have raised concern that the playmaker could face an extended spell on the sidelines.

Paris defeat ends perfect start

Barcelona’s first loss of the 2026-27 campaign came after Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz scored late goals for PSG. Goalkeeper Joan Garcia made 10 saves, but could not prevent the visitors from being beaten after a frenetic contest.

The defeat ended Barcelona’s run of 11 consecutive wins in all competitions, a sequence that had produced 50 goals. The match in Paris featured 40 shots and 11 major chances, while PSG forced Garcia into 10 first-half saves — Barcelona’s highest number of efforts on target conceded before half-time in the competition since 2003-04.

PSG’s victory also took Luis Enrique to a club-record-equalling 13-match unbeaten streak in European football. Flick must now reshuffle his midfield options as Barcelona aim to retain their La Liga lead and recover momentum in Europe.
