Fabio Carvalho Scores Again as Brentford Beat Chelsea 3-0
Fabio Carvalho marked his latest step back from a 318-day ACL absence by scoring Brentford’s final goal in Friday night’s 3-0 Premier League win over Chelsea.
The Portuguese playmaker came on for Mikkel Damsgaard in the 86th minute and finished from close range at the far post after Kevin Schade supplied the cross in stoppage time. Carvalho has now scored in each of his two appearances since returning, following his Carabao Cup goal against Reading on September 16.
Carvalho’s return boosts Brentford
Brentford manager Andrews hailed Carvalho’s conduct during his long rehabilitation, saying the midfielder had handled the difficult period with outstanding professionalism and had returned looking sharp and physically strong.

The win sent Brentford up to third place and kept their unbeaten league start intact. It also continued a remarkable Friday record: Brentford have won six of seven Premier League matches played on that day, drawing the other, for an average of 2.71 points per game — the competition’s best such return for any club with at least three games on one weekday.
Chelsea face attacking reset
Chelsea have now gone three league matches without a victory and were shut out for the first time under Xabi Alonso. The international break gives Alonso time to address his side’s lack of cutting edge before Bournemouth visit on October 10.
Brentford will resume domestic action looking to protect their place in the Champions League positions, with Carvalho pushing for more minutes after his immediate impact off the bench.
