Halo: Campaign Evolved Joins Xbox Game Pass as First Sony Home Console Release
Halo: Campaign Evolved has officially landed on Xbox and PlayStation, and it’s now part of Xbox Game Pass across multiple subscription tiers. The single-player remake of the original Master Chief campaign arrives as the 13th new addition to the service in July 2026, and it also represents the first Halo release on a Sony home console.

Microsoft’s commitment to a day-and-date PlayStation release makes Halo: Campaign Evolved a milestone beyond Xbox’s ecosystem. It’s also notable in the franchise’s timeline: Halo has been tied to Xbox since its debut in 2001, and this version is the first time the series has launched on a Sony console.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is positioned as a single-player campaign remake, unlike Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary (2011), which included multiplayer. Executive Producer Damon Conn previously said the remake doesn’t include multiplayer because the team wanted to explore new ideas—while also stressing it isn’t meant to replace the original campaign experience. The project is intended to “stand side by side” with Combat Evolved.
Based on the length of the 2001 story mode, the campaign is estimated to take roughly 10 hours to complete. While the remake is limited to the single-player component, it still joins Xbox Game Pass at launch as a day-one title.
Xbox Game Pass tier rules for day-one releases
As with other first-party Xbox releases, Halo: Campaign Evolved is subject to the usual restrictions that limit day-one availability to PC Game Pass and the XGP Ultimate tier. Microsoft previously indicated the game is expected to expand to the lower-cost Xbox Game Pass Premium tier at some point between January and July 2027.
What else is coming and what’s leaving Game Pass
Halo: Campaign Evolved isn’t the only change in July. Two more titles are set to enter Xbox Game Pass before the end of the month: Mistfall Hunter on July 30 and Corsair Cove on July 31.

In addition to the incoming games, Xbox Game Pass has an end-of-month removal wave planned for July 31. The service is expected to lose Celeste and Crusader Kings 3, along with six other titles, during that departure window.
