Club background
West Ham began life in 1895 as Thames Ironworks FC, formed by Arnold Hills from the east London industrial community. The club was reorganised under its current name five years later, adopting the claret-and-blue colours and the Irons and Hammers identities.
After entering the Football League in 1919, West Ham reached the top division in 1923. That same year, they contested the first FA Cup final staged at Wembley, the famous White Horse Final, losing to Bolton Wanderers.
The club have lifted the FA Cup three times and added European silverware by winning the Conference League in 2023.
