Inter Milan Cruise Past Parma as Pavard Reaches Serie A Milestone
Benjamin Pavard marked his 50th Serie A outing for Inter Milan as the Nerazzurri swept Parma aside 3-0 at San Siro, returning from the three-week international break with a clean sheet and three first-half goals.
Petar Sucic opened the scoring before Hakan Calhanoglu and Marcus Thuram completed the job before the interval. Pavard, part of Inter’s shutout, said he only learned of his league milestone after the final whistle.
Quick facts
- Inter Milan beat Parma 3-0 at San Siro.
- Sucic, Calhanoglu and Thuram scored in the first half.
- Pavard made his 50th Serie A appearance for Inter.
- Inter host Club Brugge in Champions League Matchday 2 on Tuesday.
The France international said he was proud to reach the landmark in Inter colours, describing the club as Italy’s leading side and among the strongest teams in world football. Pavard added that he hopes to add many more appearances.
He called the Parma game crucial after the extended pause in the domestic schedule. Inter began sharply, although Pavard accepted that Parma were allowed a few opportunities before the hosts punished their own openings.
For the defender, the clean sheet carried particular value. He stressed that keeping opponents out matters not just to Inter’s back line, but to the whole squad.
Pavard also addressed the workload facing a team competing on several fronts. He said elite clubs expect packed calendars, while insisting Inter’s depth means every player should receive opportunities.
Next comes Club Brugge in Milan on Tuesday. The Champions League meeting has extra relevance after Yann Sommer moved to the Belgian club in the summer, while Aleksandar Stankovic is set for a return to the city.
Pavard’s message before that fixture was straightforward: Inter must keep winning irrespective of which players are selected.
